Touch-sensitive gain with a classic, mild, cranked-amp voice

The Skreddy Pedals™ Hybrid Overdrive cleans up extremely well with the guitar volume and has an authentic rock voice like a huge early 70's British tube amplifier.

This circuit has less gain and more headroom compared to the Skreddy Major Overdrive.  Sounds nearly identical to the Hybrid Fuzz Driver (same oldschool-silicon-germanium fuzz stage) but has a stronger tone control for less high-end fizz and better ability to darken at min, an ever-so-slightly stronger low-midrange, and it stays punchy and cutting even at max gain, never gets mushy.

Has a singing, vintage voice with plenty of gain just shy of fuzz and gets along with all kinds of pickups.  The tone is focused but balanced.  The attack is amp-like and cutting with dynamic overdrive that responds intuitively to guitar volume, pickup selection, and picking technique.

Very reactive to the touch; notes are sweet, chords have excellent string separation, and there is plenty of crunch and growl while holding together and not going fuzzy and compressed.

Power

Regular 9v negative ground, no special power requirements. 9v battery is not included. If you use a battery, then remember to un-plug the input cable from the pedal’s input jack when not in use to prevent draining (or you can also just plug in a power-supply, which disconnects the battery).

You may supply external power through an AC adapter. All Skreddy Pedals accept the industry-standard 9v DC plug (5.5mm barrel x 2.1mm center coax), negative tip. Please use a quality, regulated, filtered power supply.

"I just got a Hybrid Overdrive in a trade with a fellow member here. I'm a long time Screwdriver fan, have had some version of it on my board for as long as I care to remember and likely always will. I will also say that I tried a Hybrid Fuzz Driver a while back and it wasn't quite my thing, a bit to bright for my liking. I also have had a Rover and a Major Overdrive, both rawked. Anyways, I am just putting the Hybrid Overdrive through its paces but initial reaction is it's fantastic. It has a good range for just 3 controls, but honestly what I am liking it most for so far is a cranked amp crunch! I suppose it has a smidge of fuzzy edge, but really just a smidge. It reacts more like an amp than the Screwdriver I think and is a tad less compressed. That said, I do enjoy the compression of the Screwdriver. I think I'm setting up a second board and this pedal will easily take the crunch spot for me."

Fairly long demo/review

Schnobel

Starting with cleanish, almost identical to straight into the amp but with more touch sensitivity, then progressing through the gain levels all the way to max, first with a Stratocaster then with a Les Paul

Marc Ahlfs

Using the volumes of the pickups to vary the drive level, HOD always on...
